1956 On July 1st Thomas Jeffrey Hanks is born in Concord, California, USA. Tom Hanks is a famous american actor. Tom was raised by Amos Mefford Hanks, a cook and restaurant manager, and Janet (Turner) Hanks, a hospital worker.

1974 Tom starts studying acting at Hayward University in California. He then transfers to State University of Sacramento. During the studies he meets Vincent Dowling, the organizer of the Great Lakes Theater Festival in Ohio, who asks him to work together.

1978  Hanks marries actress Samantha Lewes, with whom he has two children.

1979 Hanks moves to New York, where he gets his first movie role in the low budget production He Knows You're Alone.

1980 The actor gets one of the main parts in the tv series Bosom Buddies.

1984 The movie Splash is released, being very well received by the audience. The movie lets fly Hanks’ career.

1988 The comedy Big brings Hanks his first Oscar nomination. Tom is already considered a Hollywood star. In the same year he marries for the second time with actress  Rita Wilson.

1993 Tom wins his first Oscar for his part in Philadelphia. In the movie he plays a gay lawyer who has AIDS.  Later in the year the movie Sleepless in Seattle is released, a romantic comedy in which Hanks plays among Meg Ryan.

1994 The successul time of his career goes on with a new Oscar, for the role in Forrest Gump. Hanks becomes the first actor in 50 years to receive two Oscars in a row.

1996 The actor stars in Apollo 13, a movie with more than 500 million dollars in sales. In the same year he makes his directorial start with the movie That Thing You Do!

2006 The DaVinci Code is released, movie with record sales.

2013 Hanks makes his Broadway start in the play Lucky Guy. He soon receives a Tony nomination for the role.
